Yours truly appears tonight on ABC World News with Charles Gibson

My 11-year-old daughter let me know that tomorrow is "Black Friday," the day the nation's retailers typically report a profit for the year. I'm not sure if she told me this to impress me with her knowledge of economics or if she was trying to figure out whether I'd be helping her favorite stores get out of the red. (No, in case you're wondering, too.)

Talking to kids about the economy is a big issue in the media these days. A few weeks ago, I wrote a column in which I hypothosized that the recession may just offer the chance to revisit the values we're teaching children about money and materialism. That opinion caught the attention of the folks at ABC News, and tonight I'll appear in a story on this subject with reporter Ned Potter.

I hope you can catch the segment on tonight's broadcast. For now, check out the story that appears on ABC's web site.

I am suprised that there were not many comments to this blog.

After hearing the Walmart death of a store clerk being trampled to death over a discounted flat screen tv that did not EVEN EXIST, this makes me question humanity over materialism.

I don't believe in Black Friday. It does not exist in my world. I hate the work retail too.

God Bless you and your family over this Christmas Season. Jesus is the reason of the season.
